A Few Things

WARNING! RANDOM MCRANDOMNESS AHEAD!

1. Pride and Prejudice:

A couple weeks ago, I saw that Pride and Prejudice was on Amazon Prime, and I started watching it with Nils beside me, thinking he would scoff, mock, and sigh heavily. Well. Not only did he watch 2 hours of it with me that night, but he claimed to like it. The next night, I asked him if he wanted to go on a walk with me (one of our favorite activities), and he said, "I think I'd rather watch Pride and Prejudice."

Wait...what? To my utter delight, we shared in the wonder that is 6 hours of Pride and Prejudice. I've watched it many times in the past, and it makes my heart happy that we now can shush ourselves together, as Mr. Collins does.

2. What do you do with an Etch A Sketch?

Sometimes I make an outline of the screen. Sometimes, if I'm feeling really fancy, I make stairs.

This is what Nils does with an Etch A Sketch:

There's gotta be a way he can make money off of this talent.

3. THE YAAAAAAAAARRRRRDDD!!

I now understand what it means to toil, because toil we have. This yard has consumed our existence. The sprinklers took weeks and weeks of digging, gluing, twisting, fitting, never ending tedium, and countless trips to the sprinkler supply store. We can't believe how much work it was. It kept raining and really messing up our plans. Once they were done, it was filling in those precious trenches that we tried so hard to protect, and re-dug after all the rain had filled them back in; cleaning up the street and the side walks, picking rocks, pulling weeds, and leveling. So. Much. Shoveling.

Once we got the yard leveled, we cried out of joy and then said, "All that work, just to have it look like it did when we moved in."

Anyway, here it is (as of two weeks ago), freshly hydroseeded, in all its painted geen glory.

DO YOU SEE THE LITTLE BABY GRASS? We love our little baby grass so much that it's starting to get weird. This picture is from a week ago, and every day we marvel at how much it's grown and changed. Sigh.

4. Fun with cousins:

Lotsa cousin time in the last couple of weeks.

Memorial Day at my Dad's gravesite. Heaven forbid we should be reverent.

Celebrating my mom's retirement with Diet Coke and Mento Fountains.

Took the children on a trip to Richfield to see the Fremont Indian State Park. It's actually pretty cool, but Richfield is a lot farther away then I thought it was. Like, A LOT farther. Here they are in a Pit House. Goooood times.

Having a moment inside the teepee... Hope and Stockton were acting like Indians, and Haylee and Oakley couldn't be torn away from their phones. Hilarious. They were all good sports.

I have a friend from Richfield who said that the only thing worth doing there was going to the Ideal Dairy and getting a slush with ice cream in it.

We also went to Hill Air Force Base with the cousins. I usually take the kids up there once a year with my mom, and they always, always sit on this little merry go round and we take a picture. It's the little things, folks.

Preschool Graduation

Ava graduated from preschool, and boy is she ready for kindergarten! She's had the unique and wonderful (haha) experience of being home alone with me all day, minus preschool, for the last two years, and I think she's had enough of that nonsense. This kid's ready to take on the world.

Preschool was super this year. We had a great group of moms who were all reliable and fun. More than half of us moved at some point in the year, but we all stayed in Saratoga Springs and just had to drive a bit more than normal. I'm thankful that they stuck with me, even though I moved the farthest! Ava loved it!
