Spring break snuck up on me this month, and I had nothing planned. We've been hyper-focused on that darn basement. I figured we needed to do something besides sit around and be annoyed, which can happen if you don't have anything planned for a week off of school. We took an over night trip up to the big city! Pretty exciting stuff, I tell ya. We had dinner at a really classy pizza joint called Pie Hole. It's about as classy as it sounds. Maybe a little less. We told the kids not to look at the writing on the walls and tables. Yay good parenting!
Of course we swam in the hotel swimming pool; that's why you stay in hotels, you know.
We hit up Trader Joe's to stock up on cookies. That's really the only thing that I find worth buying there. If anyone has anything they love from Trader Joe's, please tell me. I usually wander aimlessly and just end up with 8 boxes of vanilla Joe Joe's. They're so good.
Pie Hole. You can probably skip this place. |
We hit up Costco to buy flooring for our kitchenette. The darling children formed a choo-choo train in the cart. Aani was the engine, which makes perfect sense, since she weighs 42 lbs.
We went to see Zootopia (good movie), and at that point had been in small, confined spaces with each other for 24 hours. We needed a little space, so we told to the kids to go sit on the grass outside the theater for 10 minutes so we could recline our seats in the van and have silence. Look at those poor kids. We went home after the movie, and I felt like I was going to die of exhaustion. I went to bed and woke up a few hours later with a crazy fever, which lasted all night. I had the flu for 8 days! It was bananas.
Other shenanigans:
Addie's hair is pretty curly, so we're embracing it and doing it curly every now and then. You're welcome, my poor daughter.
Mormon problems: I accidentally made myself a cup of coffee at the paint store. I thought it would poor hot water so I could make hot chocolate. Clearly I'm an idiot who knows nothing about how these things work. I didn't know what to do with my cup of coffee, so I just sat and looked at it and took pictures. It took awhile for them to mix up 35 gallons of paint, so we had quality time together, me and my joe.
The kids did FHE on the resurrection and made a puppet show. They spent about 45 minutes making the puppets, and about 15 seconds on the presentation. It went something like this: "Jesus died on the cross. They put him in a tomb. There were guards. Then Jesus got resurrected and came out of the tomb. When Mary saw him she went, 'AAAAAHHHHHH!'"
So yeah, we'll have to work on that.
This dog stalks me. I don't understand. She's always lurking around the corner or trying to get in my face. I was washing dishes and she kept peering around the corner at me. Such a weirdo.
This is a screen shot of my Pinterest feed. It's a constant struggle. Pinterest makes me want to work out and eat brownies at the same time.
Aani is a highly anxious child, especially when it comes to her teeth. So of course she has to have major dental issues. Here we are at the orthodontist, where she was simply getting her rubber bands replaced. Those legs were in the air the whole time. Sigh.
Went to the Tulip Festival on our anniversary. It's pretty impressive! We had a fun weekend alone while the kids were at Nana and GrandPar's house. Thanks, Par and Jenny, for being so darn fantastic!
