State Fair
The biggest news of the month is probably that we went to the State Fair. Know when the last time we went to the Utah State Fair was? It was 19 years ago. Know how I know? Because I was pregnant with Anders. (We've been to the Nevada State Fair a couple of times since then, just so you don't feel too bad for us.) A couple weeks ago, Nils was like, "We're going to the fair!" Ironically, Anders didn't go with us. I guess once in the womb was enough for him.
Do you ever feel like this mother pig? I think this mother pig could represent most human beings- those piglets were totally nuts, running around non-stop, wrestling with each other, and generally manifesting some serious ADHD, and she just laid there. Then when they all wanted to eat at the same time, she rolled over so they could all have access, but she looked miserable. I feel like there's a parable here.
Fair dinner
Fried Oreos- everyone approved.
So, I think we all had our fill of the fair. We can wait a good while before going back. There are fair stereotypes for a reason.
SMIG:
The second biggest news of the month is probably SMIG. SMIG is a rip off of Swig, the soda and cookie shop 'round these here parts, except SMIG stands for...Sisters Ministering In the Gospel. We held a drive-thru, ministering interview soda shop for a day, and it was wildly successful! We got 70% of our ministering interviews done! Whoop whoop! We had a great turnout, and great feedback. It was really fun.
Also, just have to give credit for my amazing friend Amber, who shared this idea, and her files with me to print, etc. She's the actual best, and if you don't know her, that's unfortunate.
Also, these ladies are all just the best ever.
I think you'll want to come to SMIG after you see this menu. You are welcome to drive-thru!
Randoms:
I bribed Ava to read Harry Potter. Why do we have to bribe our kids to read Harry Potter? Anyhoo, she loved it and was quite sad when it ended. Good news, though- she got to dress up for "dress as your favorite book character day". More good news: She's $5 richer for every book she read.
We had a couple of mice in our house, which was been disturbing and frustrating, but Pip has been going ham over it. She's been doing this a lot- but she is actually a terrible huntress. One mouse got trapped in the bathtub, so Nils put her in there with it and it was literally the best day of her life. And I don't ever use the word literally.
Addie and Aani are on the swim team, and staying quite busy and tired as a result. 6:00 am weights, after school practice, and this middle of the night swim marathon that ended at 1:00 am. Ava and I got to count laps for them, which was about as thrilling as you can imagine it being! Swim team is awesome, and I'm happy they get to do it.
Aani helped Nils clean the woodshop, not that it needed it.
Trailer progress: It'll get done one day. Priorities have shifted, but we haven't forgotten about it.
Sorry about this gross picture, but this is my life at the moment. Trying to figure out my endless skin problem. The doctor did another biopsy, and I'm just praying it comes back with some answers. If it comes back conclusive, I may not need to be gluten-free. That idea blows my brain open, so I'm trying to not think about it.
Kids are good. Work's good. There are a lot of details I could write, but it's late and I need to go night night. Going to the fair was the most important thing anyway, so we're good, right?
