The plan is to have white chair rail between the two colors.Me no likey. Nils stayed up until 2:30 a.m. Saturday night painting (by choice). He told me I better like it, because he's not painting another color on those walls. I like the green. I like the brown. I do not like the green and brown together. It reminds me of this really cute cupcake mix in my pantry. My awesome friend Laura gave it to me for my birthday. Isn't it cute on a cylindrical container that holds some sinful deliciousness?
Cute for cupcakes, not for walls. So I think I'll keep the brown, but put something more neutral on top, something tan. Any suggestions? I can't keep buying paint.

Personally, I like it. I think it will look really cute once you have the chair raile up... a few red or burnt orange accents (you could even do blue) and it would be awesome!
oh, and I do know that rail doesn't have an e.
This is a little out there, but you could paint giant circles of different colors on the green (much like your background). It will ditract from the green...
it would be cool if you could lick the walls and they would taste like sprinkles cupcakes—without the calories.
I actually like the colors together - but I'm all about color. Like the first comment said, once you add a few accents, I think it will look very sophisticated. And yummy.
Oh my! Ok, here is a little story for you: Right after we moved in we had to do some painting in our kids' rooms so they felt more personal. We painted Max's room (Jamie - your old office) a really cool blue. I think it's called shallow sea (but it's like a finding Nemo color) so Cam's room had to be something that coordinated. I though,"Green will be perfect!" After all, no son of Chris' will live in a light purple room. SO, 'cool aloe' seemed like it would compliment the room well. ACTUALLY, no. It didn't. Once the color was on the walls, the entire room glowed. If you were standing in the room, it actually looked like your skin was green. From the hallway, looking into the room, the whole door glowed like kryptonite. YIKES! Also, a lot of sun goes into that room and then shoots down the hallway so, thus, the hallway also looked green. Um, I was 8 months pregnant, so Chris just looked at me and said,"You are not picking out any more paint colors." He picked out a color called Warm Raffia or something like that and it looks stellar. You can come see it if you like. It's really warm and you no longer look green when you go into the room. Sorry, this is long. I have a picture to document this awesome paint choice.

I love it but its all about if you like it or not! So if its something that you are going to dispise everytime you go downstairs then I would change it maybe a darker green or a whole nother color all together. Anyway I love it but I am a crazy color person, I do though think that when you get furniture and accents in there you will like it. Have fun in San Diego you lucky girl you!!!
I don't think it looks bad, I kind of like it and totally agree that the chair rail and accents and furniture will pull it all together. If you don't "complete" the room that way, any paint job is going to look funky, in my opinion. You could always go with a lighter green tone; I've seen some that I really like that are more white with a green tint - more subtle and a tad more neutral.
